About the customer
Børnehaven Teglhuset, Varde
Acoustic panels with carefully chosen motifs turned a corner of Børnehaven Teglhuset into a quiet oasis — and gave the staff a tool for dividing the rooms into zones.

The challenge
In a kindergarten, sound is always on the move. At Teglhuset in Varde, there were no places where the children could withdraw and find calm, and the open rooms made it hard to separate loud play from quiet focus.
No places to withdraw and find calm
Sound spread freely in the open rooms
Hard to separate loud play from quiet activities
The analysis
Work environment consultant Rasmus Lund went through the building with manager Lærke and her colleague Mette. The focus was on where the sound builds up, how the rooms are used during the day, and which surfaces could hold acoustic absorption without taking space from the children.
Review of the building together with the manager and staff
Mapping of how the rooms are used during the day
Wall surfaces identified as the best absorption area
The solution
Sound-absorbing acoustic panels were mounted on the walls in the small corner and in the group rooms. The motifs were chosen with care to create visual calm and support the acoustic effect. Learning boards were also put up, so the staff can use them actively to mark zones in the room.
Sound-absorbing acoustic panels in the corner and group rooms
Motifs chosen to create visual calm
Learning boards as an active tool for dividing zones
The result
The acoustics in the corner have completely changed, and a quiet oasis has been created where the children can find calm in the middle of a busy day. The children themselves say there is a special homely atmosphere, and the educators now use the boards to create zones for creativity, focus and play.
A quiet oasis in the middle of the kindergarten

Clear zones for creativity, focus and play
“It was really special to stand in the room and feel the effect for myself.”
